2011 Arizona Fall League Rosters Announced

Phoenix, Arizona - Headed by MLB.com's two top-rated prospects - outfielders Mike Trout (Scottsdale Scorpions/Angels) and Bryce Harper (Scottsdale Scorpions/ Nationals) - the Arizona Fall League announces the rosters for its 20th season in 2011.
Trout and Harper are joined by three other MLB.com "Top 50" prospects - outfielder Wil Meyers (Surprise Saguaros/Royals), outfielder Brett Jackson (Mesa Solar Sox/Cubs) and third baseman Matt Dominguez (Surprise Saguaros/Marlins).
Two college stars and 2011 first-round draft choices - left-handed pitcher Danny Hultzen (Peoria Javelinas/Mariners) and right-handed pitcher Jed Bradley (Peoria Javelinas/Brewers) - will make their professional debuts in the Fall League. Hultzen was chosen second overall out of the University of Virginia; Georgia Tech University's Bradley was the 15th player selected.
Twenty-four first-round draft choices are headed to Arizona, led by shortstop Tim Beckham (Surprise Saguaros/Rays), the first overall selection in the 2008 draft and one of four top 10 Arizona-bound selections.
The league also will include players from six foreign countries - Brazil, Canada, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico and Venezuela
"As we make final preparations to celebrate our 20th season, it is rewarding to know organizations continue to assign their top prospects to the Arizona Fall League," offers Director Steve Cobb. "The 2011 rosters are deep and talent-laden and could become one of the most impressive classes we've showcased in Arizona."
The league expects to add additional former first-round draft choices and 2011 draft choices debuting as professionals among the 44 players to be named.
Arizona Fall League Player Eligibility
Roster size is established at 35 players per team.
Each major-league organization is required to provide seven players subject to the following eligibility requirements:
- All Triple-A and Double-A players are eligible provided they are on Double-A rosters no later than August 15.
- Each organization is now permitted to send two Class A Advanced-level players in addition to the current allowance of two "A-exempt" players (who are under contract as of August 15). Foreign players are allowed as long as the player is not on his native country's primary protected player list.
- No players with more than two years of credited major league service as of August 31 (including major league disabled list time) are eligible except a team may select one player picked in the most recently concluded Major League Rule 5 Draft.
- Each team is allotted 20 pitchers but only 15 are designated "eligible" each game day.
2011 Season
The league begins its 20th season on Tuesday, October 4. The six-team league plays six days per week (Monday-Saturday) in six Cactus League stadiums in the Phoenix area. Salt River Fields at Talking Stick has been added as the new home of the Rafters in 2011, joining Mesa Hohokam Stadium (Solar Sox), Peoria Sports Complex (Javelinas), Phoenix Municipal Stadium (Desert Dogs), Scottsdale Stadium (Scorpions) and Surprise Stadium (Saguaros) as the league venues.
The popular Rising Stars Game is scheduled for Saturday, November 5 at Surprise Stadium. This year's championship game is slated for Saturday, November 19 at Scottsdale Stadium. Daily start times are 12:35 p.m. and 6:35 p.m.
