(LANCASTER, CA) - Due to consistent rainfall in the Antelope Valley, Friday's games in the University of Antelope Valley's Varsity First Pitch have been cancelled. The Lancaster JetHawks, City of Lancaster and the University of Antelope Valley are exploring contingency plans in order to allow participating high school teams the chance to play at Clear Channel Stadium later this spring. A decision on Saturday's games will be made after an inspection of the field Friday.

"The weather has been a constant obstacle throughout the week," said JetHawks General Manager Larry Thornhill. "Unfortunately, the area has yet to receive a break from the rain and the field remains unplayable. Hopefully, we can get Saturday's games in. We will work with the City of Lancaster and the University of Antelope Valley to re-schedule the games that have already been cancelled for dates when the JetHawks are off during April and May. "

Provided the weather cooperates, the University of Antelope Valley's Varsity First Pitch is scheduled to begin on Saturday when Desert and Trona square off at 10:00 a.m. Three more games are scheduled for Saturday, including Antelope Valley vs. Cal City at 1 p.m., Lancaster vs. Standley Lake (Colo.) at 4 p.m. and Quartz Hill vs. Alemany at 7 p.m.
