Fans to Determine Washington Wild Things All-Decade Team

Washington, Pa. - As part of what will be a year-long celebration of their 10th season, the Washington Wild Things, presented by Washington Financial, announced today that they will give their fans the opportunity to determine the organization's All-Decade Team via online balloting. The announcement was made by Todd Marlin, the managing director of the Frontier League baseball club.

Beginning today and continuing for the next 10 weeks, fans will be able to vote for their favorite Wild Things players and determine who the members of the All-Decade Team will be by logging on to www.washingtonwildthings.com. The complete schedule for the balloting is as follows:

Week #1 February 22-28 Starting Pitchers

Week #2 March 1-7 Relief Pitchers

Week #3 March 8-14 Managers

Week #4 March 15-21 Designated Hitters

Week #5 March 22-28 Catchers

Week #6 March 29-April 4 First Basemen

Week #7 April 5-11 Second Basemen

Week #8 April 12-18 Shortstops

Week #9 April 19-25 Third Basemen

Week #10 April 26-May 2 Outfielders

"A lot of terrific players have worn the Wild Things uniform since the team began play back in 2002, and voting for the All-Decade Team will be a great way for our fans to pay tribute to those players and recall the many exciting moments that they provided," Marlin said. "We invite everyone to cast a ballot and also join us throughout the year as we celebrate the wonderful history of Wild Things baseball."

After the balloting has been completed, members of the All-Decade Team will appear together at a Wild Things home game (to be determined) and will also be featured in a special All-Decade Team card set.

The Wild Things chose the nominees for the All-Decade Team with the assistance of Chris Dugan, sports editor for The Observer-Reporter. Fans can also submit write-in candidates via the online ballot.

After getting the 2011 season underway on the road with a three-game series against the Joliet Slammers (May 19-21), the Wild Things home opener at Consol Energy Park will take place on Tuesday, May 24. Tickets for the 6:35 p.m. contest and all 48 home games to be played during the coming season are available by phone at 724-250-9555, in person at the Consol Energy Park box office Monday through Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., and online via the team's official website -- www.washingtonwildthings.com.
