Huntsville Stars News Release

Stars fans, Thirst-Aid Thursday is back in 2011. Every Thursday all 20-ounce Bud drafts (Bud, Bud Light, Michelob, etc) will again be $2 for 20-ounces courtesy of Bud Light. *Additionally, new this season will be the Bud Light Bullpen located on the main concourse. During every 2011 home game with the exception of Education Day on Wednesday, April 27th, the Bud Light Bullpen will serve 20-ounce drafts for only $2 from the time the gates open until the start of the game. That promotion will run every game but one, so make plans to get to the ballpark early! * We are waiting the final word from KRAFT Singles regarding the Tuesday Night Tickets promotion that Minor League Baseball has helped execute the past two seasons. As soon as that deal is final we'll let you know. Last season fans that presented a wrapper from KRAFT Singles received two-for-one tickets from their participating Minor League Baseball teams across North America.

Don't forget that the Everybody Can Play 'Evening of Valentine Delights' fundraiser in next Saturday night, the night before the Super Bowl. It's going to be a great event and all proceeds help build a state-of-the-art playground that will accommodate everybody no matter what their physical status...make plans to attend because you can make off with some serious prizes for a fraction of the cost in the live and silent auctions. There'll be taste-testing of food, desserts, ice cream, etc., and it is an excellent opportunity to walk around with your sweetheart and write down what she or he likes, considering you're going to have to go out and drop some bucks the following week anyways. Let's just call this cupid's recon mission for a successful Valentine's Day. Sign up today. Tickets are only $40 per couple or $25 per person. For more information, please contact Brandy Dunson at (256) 882-1122 x112 or email brandy.dunson@envyscorp.com.

The annual Diamond Dig will be conducted after the game on Saturday, May 7th, courtesy of Alexander's Jewelry. All ladies 18 and older will be invited onto the field to dig for gold and diamonds. I know, it starts with nice, genteel ladies wishing each other good luck, but it ends with an all-out scratchfest catfight for diamonds. It's good entertainment for the guys watching from the stands who think they really know their sweetheart, but actually have no clue.

NetwoRx of Huntsville is sponsoring some military activities this season at Joe Davis Stadium including our Band of Brothers and Sisters Night on May 21st (Armed Forces Day with the Disabled American Veterans). Thanks to NetwoRx of Huntsville, all military (Active Duty, Reserve, National Guard, retirees and family members) will receive $5 admission every night all season long instead of the regular $8 admission.

NetwoRx of Huntsville is the official IT company of the Huntsville Stars. The folks from NetwoRx of Huntsville work with all companies, big and small, and can fix just about anything with your network and phone system. If you're having constant problems with your network at work like we had at the stadium, call Beau at (256) 535-0857. Our network at the stadium was so unpredictable that some of our staff just got fed up and bought wireless cards just so we could check our email or update the web site. We were pretty frustrated until NetwoRx came in and made sense of it all and helped us improve our overall operation. They fixed our IT issues and they can fix yours!

Spirit Coach, the official transportation of the Huntsville Stars, has picked up the cost of having the area Boys and Girls Clubs out to the ballpark five nights this season. Spirit Coach gets us where we need to be on time, all the time. If you're looking for transportation for your next function and it has to be reliable and safe, call Clip Coates at (256) 772-7751.

And don't forget that a Willowbrook Baptist Church (WBC) bulletin will get a family of five into a Sunday game for only $5 this season! Church Bulletin Sunday is back and all you need is a church bulletin from WBC to receive the offer every Sunday.

To the mailbag:

1-Are the Stars having a meet and greet or exhibition game this season Yes, but that game and meet and greet will be at Space Coast Stadium in Brevard County on Tuesday, April 5th. The Stars will have an exhibition game against the Brevard County Manatees and then both teams will have a meet and greet at the ballpark in Viera, FL. The Manatees are the High-A Affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers. The Huntsville Stars will fly directly from spring training to Florida because the Stars begin the season on the road at Jacksonville. This was the easiest option to accommodate all the travel involved. The Stars play a daytime game on Monday, April 11th at Jacksonville, and the team bus should be pulling back into Huntsville around midnight. The 12th is an off day and the Stars home opener will be on Wednesday, April 13th with Oktoberfest. We are still trying to set up a local meet and greet here in Huntsville after the season begins.

2-How come you have an atheist sign outside the stadium The billboard along the parkway isn't ours; the sign is on the property of the National Tire & Brake Company next door who sold or leased the space to a sign company. We know it caused a huge uproar in the community lately but we don't have any say-so over who advertises on the sign. But we don't take offense at it. They poked their fun and said all religions are scams. We didn't get upset; we actually have a sense of humor. After all, atheists don't have any holidays except April Fool's Day. Yeah, I said it. What, did you think they were coming out for Church Bulletin Sundays anyways Touche.

3-When can I pick up my season tickets From 11:00 am - 3:00 pm on Saturday, April 2nd season ticket holders can stop by the picnic area for lunch and pick up their tickets and parking passes.

4-I'll be a the (Milwaukee Brewers) On-Deck event this weekend (in Milwaukee). Are you bringing up any autographed items for sale Yes, from autographed baseballs to a couple bats and a few other things. We will have an autographed Dave Bush jersey, cap and line up card from a game which he played with the Stars while on a rehab assignment in 2009. The sale of that package will be donated to charity. We'll also have the nylon BP tops with the embroidered Brewers logo from this past season that will be sold. Letters of authenticity will accompany all autographed items and the BP tops worn by players and coaches. Make sure you stop on and get a steal of a deal...everything must go!

That's it for today. Pitchers and catchers report on February 13th. That's in 19 days. It seems like the World Series ended just yesterday. Well, get your snow shoes out, the weather guys say tonight is gonna be ugly again. Schools are already delayed tomorrow. Here we go again.
