Bakersfield Wins Marketing Award of Excellence

Published on June 28, 2010 under ECHL (ECHL) News Release

PRINCETON, N.J. - The ECHL announced that the Bakersfield Condors are the 2009-10 recipient of the ECHL Award of Excellence for Marketing.

The award recognizes the ECHL team that executes a well-rounded marketing, sponsorship and advertising campaign with consideration given to sponsorship sales, advertising, marketing campaign and promotions.

Bakersfield also won the award in 2007-08.

The Condors were innovative with promotions while still being cost-conscious and introduced new sponsorship ideas to generate revenue including warm-up pucks, jersey sponsorships and home-ice naming rights. Among the team's successful promotional nights during the 2009-10 season were Paint-Your-Own Bobble Head, King of Pop jersey raffle and auction, toilet plunger giveaway and Spider-Man and Real Heroes Night. Bakersfield generated more than $350,000 in cash, goods and services for local non-profits, including collecting 8,075 stuffed animals on its annual Teddy Bear Toss Night, 3,086 pounds of food and 1,500 coats. The Condors also raised $31,427 during their annual Fighting Cancer Hockey-Thon.
