Hoffman Estates, IL - It's official! A new ECHL, mid-level professional, hockey team is coming to the Chicagoland area.

C & S Family Sports, the ownership group behind the team, which was formerly known as the Chicago Hounds, announced at a press conference today that not only is the team returning to the Sears Centre Arena, as its home ice, but kicking off a team renaming contest in celebration of its admittance into the ECHL franchise. The ECHL is a Premier AA hockey league and feeder for National Hockey League and American Hockey League teams.

At the event attended by Mayor William McLeod, Hoffman Estates Trustees, youth hockey players and media, Craig Drecktrah, CEO of C & S Family Sports, expressed his resolve to "get the team going and show our fans how much entertainment and effort we can bring onto the ice each and every night. When I was with Hounds and the IceHogs, we always had fun, we always tried hard, and there was never a dull moment for our fans. I plan to bring that back to the Sears Centre. All we need now is a name that matches the level of excitement we plan to bring to the ice."

Fans have the opportunity to visit www.NameYourHockeyTeam.com to submit their team name idea and vote on the submissions of others. On July 21st , 4 finalists will be selected for a final round of voting culminating with an announcement of the new team name, along with a debut of team colors and logo, at a later date.

The contest will run until August 6, 2010.

The organization will also announce the winner of the "Name Your Hockey Team" promotion. The lucky fan who submitted the winning team name in the first phase of the contest will be selected as the Grand Prize winner. This person will receive four complimentary season tickets and a special prize on Opening Night. All four fans, who submitted the final four team names, will receive four VIP tickets to Opening Night. And all submitters will be entered into a raffle to win others great prizes.

"The Village is very excited to have a hockey team playing at the Sears Centre Arena and I like that our residents will have the ability to vote on the name of the team. Being able to help name the team reinforces the message that this is our community's hockey team," said Village Mayor William McLeod.
