Rafe, Daniels, Comiskey Earn Week 12 Honors

June 9, 2010 - Southern Indoor Football League (SIFL) News Release

Albany Panthers wide receiver Clenton Rafe, Columbus Lions defensive back Damian Daniels, and Lafayette Wildcatters Sean Comiskey have been named the Offensive, Defensive, and Special Teams Player of the Week respectively by the Southern Indoor Football League for Week 12.

Big reason the Albany Panthers upended the Columbus Lions over the weekend, was due to the sure hands of Offensive Player of the week wide receiver Clenton Rafe (5'11 180, Albany State). Rafe grabbed nine receptions for 148 yards and two touchdowns. 42 of those came on the eventual game-winning drive giving the Panthers the 51-45 over Columbus.

Earning his second Defensive Player of the Week award is Columbus Lions defensive back Damian Daniels (5'10 185, West Georgia). Damian took home his first award back in Week 9 and earned it this week's honor after intercepting three Cecil Lester passes in the Lions loss to the Panthers. His three picks on Saturday put him in the elite company of defensive backs with at least 50 career interceptions.

After sitting on the outside for a number of weeks, Lafayette Wildcatters kicker Sean Comiskey (5'9 170, Louisiana-Lafayette) earned Special Teams Player of the Week for Week 12. Mentioned on the other candidates list for a number of the previous weeks, Comiskey picked up his first POTW award after huge weekend that included him nailing four uno's. He also went 8 of 9 on PAT attempts along with striking thru on a field goal giving the Catters 15 points in their 63-47 against the Bucs over the weekend.

Offensive Player of the Week candidates included: Albany QB Cecil Lester (18-29, 262 yards, 5 total Td's, 18 rushing yards), Lafayette QB Juan Joseph (21-30 174 yards, 6 total Td's, 12 rushing yards).

Defensive Player of the Week candidates included: Albany LB Larry Edwards (4.5 tackles, 2 sacks, 1 safety), Albany LB Melvin Jenkins 2.5 tackles, 1 fumble recovery, 1 INT returned for a TD).

Special Teams Player of the Week candidates included: Albany K Juan Bongarra (5-5 PAT, 1-5 FG, 3 Uno's), Columbus K Trey Crum (4-5 PAT, 0-1 FG, 3 Uno's), Lafayette KR Jasper O' Quinn (109 kick return yards).
