Published on December 15, 2009 under National Pro Fastpitch (NPF) News Release

National Pro Fastpitch announces the signing of 2008 Olympic Team Member, Lauren Lappin, to the USSSA Florida Pride. Lappin, a silver medalist for Team USA in the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, will be a rookie this season in the National Pro Fastpitch League.

Lappin will join former Olympic Team teammates, Caitlin Lowe, Kelly Kretschman, and Monica Abbott on the newly purchased USSSA Florida Pride roster.

Lappin was a 2006 graduate of Stanford University where she was a four time All Pac 10 Selection, two time Pac 10 Defensive Player of the Year, a 2004 WCWS All Tournament Team selection, and a two time NFCA All American.

Lappin was an alternate for the US Olympic Team in 2004 before joining Team USA as a full team member in 2008. Lappin is a utility player defensively as a catcher, shortstop, and outfielder. Offensively, Lappin can hit for power from the right side and also slap for speed from the left side.
