(LANCASTER, CA) - The Community Sports Network will re-broadcast the Golden League Youth Super Bowl this Sunday starting at 10am. Originally played last Saturday, the GLYF Super Bowl featured 10 teams from 5 different divisions of local youth talent. The Lancaster Jets were the big winners of the afternoon taking 4 of 5 championship games.
"We had a lot of fun last weekend at Quartz Hill High School." says JetHawks Vice President and General Manager Larry Thornhill. "With the holiday weekend coming up and families coming together we figured it would be a perfect time to rebroadcast these championship games. We want the kids to have an opportunity to listen to themselves on the internet. After eating turkey and shopping all day, take a football break on Sunday."
Golden League Youth Football has been in season since early September and last Saturday wrapped up their 6th year as the GLYF. There are currently 35 teams in the GLYF and next season the league plans to align with Pacific Youth Football League which has 232 teams that reach from Burbank up to Ventura. The GLYF promotes excellence both on and off the field, with academics playing a big role in the league.
Sign ups for the GLYF begin in February and the age groups range from 7 to when the kids enter High School, and games are all played at local High Schools. For more information about the GLYF or to become a volunteer contact Fiona Lane at glyf@gosolo.com. The Golden League conducts a meeting on the third Wednesday of every month.
The 2010 season marks the 15th anniversary of professional baseball in the Antelope Valley, and since its inaugural game in 1996, The Hangar has produced more than 90 Major Leaguers and inducted 25 members into The JetHawks Hall of Fame. Don't miss out on your chance to be a part of 15 years of Hangar Heroes in 2010.
