Traverse City North Stars News Release

JANESVILLE, Wisc. - The hits just keep on coming for Traverse City North Stars winger Andy Huff.

Huff, the NAHL's leading goal-scorer with 15, redirected a Curtis Heinz blast from the left point 2:04 into overtime, giving the North Stars a sixth consecutive victory, a third straight weekend sweep, and a 3-2 triumph at Janesville in the back end of a two-game series in southern Wisconsin. Traverse City (14-4-1) remains three points ahead of second-place Marquette for tenancy in the NAHL North Division penthouse.

After a scoreless opening stanza, the teams took turns lighting the lamp in the middle frame. Janesville took a 1-0 lead 1:18 in before Kyle Jean (Sault Ste. Marie, MI/TC North Stars/Lake Superior State) issued a quick retort for the visitors just 16 ticks later. The Jets re-claimed the advantage at 6:16, but Doug Clifford (Woodhaven, MI/ Mahoning Valley NAHL) registered a power play goal with 2:11 to go before the second intermission. Huff's game-winner came on the power play as well, when former North Stars blue-liner Mike Schenfeld was whistled for a trip deep in the Janesville zone 49 seconds into the extra frame.

Tyler Marble (Traverse City, MI/TC North Stars/Lake Superior State) nailed down his third victory of the season, snuffing 21 of the 23 shots he saw. Five different North Stars collected an assist apiece: Jean helped on Huff's clincher - his NAHL-best fourth game-bagger of the year - while Garrett Thompson (Traverse City, MI/TC North Stars), Kelin Ainsworth (Thunder Bay, ONT/Ft. William SIJHL/Lake Superior State), and Dan Radke (Orinda, CA/TC North Stars/Lake Superior State) also set up markers.

The North Stars travel to fifth-place Alpena next Friday, before welcoming the IceDiggers back to Centre ICE arena for the teams' annual Thanksgiving Eve clash on Wednesday, Nov. 25.
