Rockies' Rosario, Nationals' Strasburg Players of the Week

Phoenix - Scottsdale Scorpions' catcher Wilin Rosario (COL) and Phoenix Desert Dogs' right-handed starter Stephen Strasburg (WSH) are the Arizona Fall League's week four player-of-the-week and pitcher-of-the-week, respectively.

Rosario - The 5-11, 190-pound Rosario hit .545 (6-11) for the week with 6 runs, 3 home runs, 4 RBI, and 1 stolen base. For the week, he led the league in slugging percentage and fnished second in runs scored.

The 20-year-old native of the Dominican Republic enters week fve with a six-game hitting streak during which he is batting .429 (9-21) with 7 runs, 1 double, 3 homers, and 5 RBI.

Signed by Colorado as a free agent in 2006, Rosario is a .270 hitter in 220 minor-league games over the past four seasons. He spent 2009 with High-A Modesto where he hit .266 in 58 games.

Strasburg - The celebrated Strasburg, the frst selection in the 2009 draft by the Washington Nationals out of San Diego State University, is making his professional debut in the Arizona Fall League.

He won his only start last week, posting a league-leading six strikeouts for the week in fve innings while allowing four hits and one earned run in his longest Fall League outing in four starts. He walked one.

The 6-4, 220-pound Strasburg, 21, shares the league lead with three wins and is tied for fourth with 17 strikeouts. He has posted a 3-1 record. The San Diego native has allowed nine earned runs in 15.1 innings, an earned-run average of 5.28. He leads active Fall League starters in strikeouts per nine innings at 9.98.

Other Nominees - Other hitters receiving player-of-the-week consideration were Surprise Rafters' third and frst baseman and week one player- of-the-week Brandon Laird (NYY), Surprise Rafters' infelder Marcus Lemon (TEX) and Scottsdale Scorpions' center felder Jose Tabata (PIT).

Other pitchers receiving consideration were Peoria Javelinas' left-handed reliever Zach Braddock (MIL) and last week's pitcher-of-the-week, Scottsdale Scorpions' starter Donnie Veal (PIT).
