
Phantoms Team Up With Autism Society

Pittsburgh, PA. The new expansion ABA Pittsburgh Phantoms professional basketball team that begins play in December has teamed up with the Autism Society of Pittsburgh to not only make its team successful on the court, but off the court as well.
"A portion of the proceeds from the Phantom games will help support the work of the Autism Society of Pittsburgh," Phantoms GM Bill Miller said.
The Phantoms will complete against eight teams in the North Central Division including the Chicago Steam,
Lake Michigan Admirals, Youngstown Swish, Akron Rise, Cleveland Rockers, Columbus Crush, Kansas City Stars and the Detroit Hoops. The first home game is against the Youngstown Swish on December 5th at the Court Time Sports Center in Elizabeth, PA. The Phantoms will play a total of 30 home and away games into early March.
Phantoms' players Brice Flaherty, James Hairston, Gilmore Cummings and Daniel Waajid are star alumni from area colleges and universities like Point Park University, Edinboro University, the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg and Johnstown, California University of Pennsylvania, Pennsylvania State University at Altoona and Duquesne University.
"We've assembled a crack team that I guarantee will compete with the best from day one," Miller said. In total ageement is Tom Dineen, recently named head coach, replacing John Ashaolu, who was recently named head basketball coach at East Carolina University.
