Florida Tuskers quarterback Brooks Bollinger, Florida cornerback Fakhir Brown and Las Vegas Locomotives kicker Graham Gano were named the OurSports Central United Football League Offensive, Defensive and Special Teams Players of the Week respectively, for week one of the UFL season.
Bollinger was 20 of 26 passing for 241 yards and four touchdown throws with one interception in the Tuskers 35-13 victory over the New York Sentinels. Bollinger played six seasons in the NFL with three teams the NY Jets, Minnesota Vikings and Dallas Cowboys from 2003 to 2008.
Brown had one interception and 2.5 tackles for the Tuskers in their victory over the New York Sentinels. Brown played nine seasons in the NFL with three teams: the San Diego Chargers, New Orleans Saints and St. Louis Rams from 1999 to 2008.
Gano was 3-3 on extra points and 3-3 on field goals of 33, 39 and 53-yards in the Locomotives 30-17 victory over the California Redwoods. His 33-yard field goal in the first quarter accounted for the first points scored in UFL history. Gano played his college football at Florida State and in 2008 won the Lou Groza Award that is given to the top placekicker in college football.
