
United Football League Announces Dr. Lawrence Lemak As Chief Medical Officer

JACKSONVILLE, FL (October 8, 2009) - The United Football League announced today that Dr. Lawrence Lemak will serve as Chief Medical Officer to the League. Dr. Lemak, a world renowned orthopedic surgeon, is a founding partner of Alabama Sports Medicine and Orthopedic Center, one of the nation's leading orthopedic clinics.
"I am thrilled to be working with Dr. Lemak again having worked with him while we were both associated with the World League of American Football," said UFL Commissioner Michael Huyghue. "Dr. Lemak has a proven record of providing top medical care to athletes and we are quite confident in the treatment our players will receive."
Dr. Lemak has played an integral role in sports medicine and arthroscopy research as one of the founders and board members of the American Sports Medicine Institute, a research and education center. In addition to his current work with the UFL, Dr. Lemak has served as Medical Director for Major League Soccer, NFL Europe, the Professional Golf Association and the Ladies Professional Golf Association. He is also the Team Physician for many colleges and universities.

The United Football League is a new professional football league that will kick-off its "Premiere" season this October. Featuring high-quality traditional football played by world-class athletes and former NFL coaches, the UFL's "Premiere" season teams include the California Redwoods, Florida Tuskers, Las Vegas Locomotives and New York Sentinels. The UFL's first game will be held this Thursday, October 8^th when the Las Vegas Locos host the California Redwoods. This game will also be broadcast on VERSUS at 9:00 pm ET. On Saturday, October 10^th, the Florida Tuskers will host the New York Sentinels at the Citrus Bowl. This game will be broadcast on HDNet at 7:00 pm ET.
