High School Football Game of the Week Set to Air Friday Night on CSN

September 30, 2009 - California League (CalL) Lancaster JetHawks

(LANCASTER, CA) - Local High School Football will be making a return to radio on Friday night as the Highland Bulldogs play host to the Quartz Hill Rebels in the first High School Football Game of the Week on CSN. Pregame coverage will start at 6:45pm and kick-off is at 7pm with Will Thornhill and Fred Jaramillo calling all the play-by-play action.

The High School Football Game of the Week will cover the entire Golden League throughout the 2009 season. Every week the Community Sports Network will showcase two local teams as they pursue a CIF playoff birth and a Golden League Championship. Broadcasts will include pregame interviews with each coach, and halftime interviews with members of the athletics programs from the featured schools.

Located at Jethawks.com, CSN is a 24/7 streaming internet radio station that launched on September 5th with the goal of bringing a voice to the Antelope Valley Sports Community. CSN is the official flagship station for AVC Marauder Athletics and has covered Youth Football and the MABL Playoffs in its first month of broadcasting.

"It has been a lot of fun so far being able to cover local sports in the Antelope Valley," says Programming Director for CSN Will Thornhill. "AVC has been great in helping us launch the station with 4 games already, and I can't wait to kick-off The High School Football Game of the Week on Friday night with Golden League opener for Quartz Hill and Highland."

Every Friday and Saturday night CSN will broadcast games live, and the rebroadcasts of each game can be heard the following week everyday at 2:30p.m. for High School Football, immediately followed by the previous weeks AVC Game at 5p.m. CSN Programming also includes exclusive interviews from the 2009 Jethawks Season with players and coaches and Clubhouse Show interviews with Tommy Lasorda, Jeff Bagwell and Ron Shelton.

The schedule for the High School Football Game of the Week is set to run as follows for the first four games of the 2009 Season.

10/2 Quartz Hill @ Highland

10/9 Palmdale @ Quartz Hill

10/16 AV @ Eastside

10/23 Lancaster @ Littlerock

CSN is also working with Local High Schools to create Showcase Shows that will feature student journalists as the anchors and will highlight their programs within the Fall, Winter and Spring Seasons.

"It's a great opportunity for all the schools and teams within the Golden League to get some exposure through the radio," says Athletics Director for Quartz Hill High School Coy Ray. "We're excited to work with CSN to help build local programming involving our students and athletes."

CSN will also cover youth and adult sports throughout the valley, and is looking for local sports figures, fans, coaches and players to come in and help build the programming schedule.
