AIFA Welcomes New Member of Ownership Group in Harrisburg
Published on August 20, 2009 under American Indoor Football Association (AIFA) News Release
BALTIMORE, Maryland (August 20, 2009) - The Harrisburg Stampede is announcing a new member of its ownership group today. Local businessman Frederick A. Clark, President and CEO of Clark Resources, has joined the Stampede as the only business partner with owner John Morris. The team states that Clark will own "a significant percentage" of the team.
Today's announcement is viewed as another success in the league's strategy of seeding franchises and developing markets. Experience has taught league management that when a successful team is launched in favorable market conditions, local ownership interest emerges.
"We have a very good track record now with this approach," said AIFA co-founder and Stampede owner John Morris. "Harrisburg is a tremendous market for our product, and we have developed some fantastic relationships here in the past year.
"Our ultimate goal from the beginning was to get the right local business person involved in the ownership of the Harrisburg Stampede, Morris added. "We now believe we have been able to do that with Fred Clark."
Clark is the President and CEO of Clark Resources, a diversity, government relations and consulting firm headquartered in Harrisburg. He has an outstanding reputation in marketing, business development, and philanthropic activities. He also owns a TV talk-show entitled "One-on-One," that airs on local cable television in the Harrisburg area.
"John is an outstanding and decent person whom I trust implicitly," Clark said. "I believe in his vision for the league, and I am firmly committed to developing the Harrisburg Stampede into a successful and professional sports franchise."
Harrisburg finished its first season in the AIFA with a 4-10 record. The Stampede featured the second-ranking defensive unit in the league, while placing three of its players on the AIFA All-Pro First Team and three more on the All-Pro Honorable Mention squad. Harrisburg also hosted the 2009 Kickoff Classic at the Farm Show Arena.
