The Batavia Muckdogs today announced that UFC Fighter Matt "The Hammer" Hamill will sign autographs at Dwyer Stadium on August 22nd when the Muckdogs battle the State College Spikes at 7:05 p.m. Hamill's appearance is sponsored by the Genesee County Baseball Club.
Prior to throwing out the ceremonial first pitch, Hamill will sign autographs from 6:00 p.m. to 6:55 p.m. Hamill will then sign again from 7:05 p.m. to 8:10 p.m.
Hamill was a three-time NCAA Division III National Champion in wrestling while attending the Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, New York. Matt, who is deaf, also has a silver medal in Greco-Roman wrestling and a gold medal in freestyle wrestling from the 2001 Summer Deaflympics.
He was a contestant on the third season of The Ultimate Fighter reality television show, training under Tito Ortiz in the 205 lb weight class. He is currently 7-2 in his 9 professional Mixed Martial Arts fights.
