Force Take Down Brakettes in Exhibition

July 2, 2009 - National Pro Fastpitch (NPF) Philadelphia Force

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - In their first of two exhibition games this week, the Philadelphia Force downed the visiting Brakettes of Stratford, Conn. by the final score of 2-0, Thursday evening at ECTB Stadium in front of 309 fans and spectators.

Pacing the Force's victory were Megan Gibson and Stacy Birk. Gibson led the game with a pair of hits, one of which was an RBI double in the first inning.

Following Gibson's RBI smash in the first, the Force made it a 2-0 game on a solo shot by Birk with two outs on the scoreboard. Combined the Force recorded seven hits in the win, while defensively they only surrendered two hits in the seven inning contest.

In the circle, Jessica Sallinger got the start and was perfect through the first three frames before surrendering just one hit in the top of the fourth. After the fourth, Samantha Yodowitz filled in and threw a total of two innings. Birk closed out the seventh and picked up the save.

On the visitors side Denise Denis and Jessica Serio each recorded a hit. Bailey Sanders led the Brakettes in the circle throwing the first four innings. Jackie Lawrence threw the final two innings of the contest and worked herself out of a really tight bases loaded jam in the sixth inning.

The Force will look to close out the two game series with another win tomorrow evening at 7:35 p.m. EST from ECTB Stadium.
