AFL Continues Efforts to Resume Play in 2010

June 12, 2009 - Arena Football League (AFL)

NEW YORK - The Arena Football League (AFL) today announced that it continues its efforts that will enable the league to return to competition in time for the 2010 season. Chairman of the AFL Executive Committee Jim Renacci is spearheading the restructuring process.

"Contrary to recent published reports, we are still working diligently to ensure the future viability of the AFL so the league can return to play next season," said Renacci. "A plan has been shared with our owners about revitalizing the league, and now the focus is developing a course of action to execute that plan."

New York Dragons Managing Partner Steven Silva added, "The Dragons have never entertained the possibility of not having a 2010 season, and we have been working tirelessly to ensure that our operation will be up and running without a hitch come Spring 2010. We continue to have our key staff working at Dragons headquarters, including our President, my wife, Shanna Silva, and our outstanding Chief Operating Officer Timothy Kelly. Our amazing Head Coach Weylan Harding is with us and is working hard to make sure we field the best team in the AFL in the 2010 season. Everyone has an opinion - just like something else everyone has - so you can't believe everything you hear from others. When we step out on the field, we will show all the people who have been negative what New York can do."
