Roxie named Lightning Girl MVD of the Week
June 10, 2009 - United Indoor Football Association (UIF) News Release
This week the Storm organization has chosen one woman that we feel truly emulates the meaning of the word "Storm". Over the last few months she has worked very hard not only on the field but off the field to make this season a true success.
Our Lightning Girl Most Valuable Dancer of the week is Roxie. She grew up in Brandon South Dakota and she is currently working as a high school mathematics teacher. She has been dancing and cheerleading for ten plus years, and has an extensive background in each.
She cheered for the University of Sioux Falls, Brandon Valley High School competition team, and Brandon Valley High School Varsity Cheer. In Roxie's spare time she enjoys working out, hanging out with friends, shopping, and listening to music. Roxie says something most people don't know about her is she went sky diving after her finals in college. She says "I went to unwind, and I would strongly encourage anyone to do it!"
Roxie's inspiration to dance is performing. "My inspiration for performing comes from having the opportunity to be a role model for younger girls interested in cheer and dance." Her favorite part of being a Lightning Girl is being able to perform again in front of a crowd and cheer on the Storm to another successful season. This is Roxie's first year with the Storm, and the Storm is grateful to have her on our team.
