'Caps sign Haitian International

Vancouver Whitecaps FC announced today the signing of midfielder Kenold Versailles, pending international clearance. Versailles has agreed to a two-year contract - plus an option.
"Kenold is a big, strong, athletic central midfielder who can distribute the ball well," said Whitecaps head coach Teitur Thordarson, who discovered Versailles at the United Soccer Leagues Men's Player Showcase in Charleston, South Carolina last month.
Sinclair named Canadian Player of 2008
Former Vancouver Whitecaps striker Christine Sinclair has been named Canada's top female soccer player for a fourth consecutive year.
The Burnaby, BC, native claimed the 2008 Canadian Player of the Year award in a vote that was shared between the Canadian media and all Canadian coaches that have taken A and B-level coaching courses. The 25-year-old was honoured for her efforts in leading Canada to the Women's Olympic Football Tournament in Beijing, China, last August.
Nolly's year to remember
2008 was a memorable year in the career and life of Vancouver Whitecaps goalkeeper Jay Nolly.
Not only did the 27-year-old savour USL First Division championship success in his first season with Teitur Thordarson's side, the former Major League Soccer keeper married his fiancée Alicia in her native Utah on December 6.
The former Indiana University star, who had spells with MLS clubs Real Salt Lake and DC United before joining the 'Caps, admitted there was little time to think about the past season when it ended in triumph at Swangard Stadium on October 12. "Soon after the season ended, Alicia and I headed straight back to Utah to finish up all the wedding plans," he told whitecapsfc.com. "We had to make sure everything was ready because we had about 500 people attending. In the end, the wedding went very well, as there were no problems. I don't think I could have asked for anything more, as Alicia and her mom did a great job!"
Filigno takes U-20 award for 2008
Vancouver Whitecaps forward/midfielder Jonelle Filigno has been named Canadian U-20 Women's Player of the Year for 2008.
Filigno was honoured in a vote that was shared between members of the Canadian national team coaching staff and all Canadian coaches that have taken A and B-level coaching courses after a 2008 season in which the Mississauga, Ontario, native played for both the Whitecaps women's team, as well as the Canadian U-20 and senior national sides.
As a member of the Whitecaps, the 18-year-old made two appearances during the 2008 United Soccer Leagues (USL) W-League season for 179 minutes of action. She scored two goals in those appearances for Vancouver, with Filigno striking the match winner in a 1-0 victory over Fort Collins Force in Colorado on May 30.
Lam-Feist, Teibert U-17's of the Year
Vancouver Whitecaps FC, in conjunction with the Canadian Soccer Association, announce that midfielders Monica Lam-Feist and Russell Teibert have been named Canadian U-17 Players of the Year for 2008.
Lam-Feist and Teibert were honoured in a vote that was shared between members of the Canadian national team coaching staff and all Canadian coaches that have taken A and B-level coaching courses. This is the second straight year that Lam-Feist has been named the top U-17 female player in Canada after winning the same award in 2007.
