Chicago Stars FC News Release
Bridgeview, IL (January 7, 2009) - The Chicago Red Stars became the first franchise in Women's Professional Soccer (WPS) to surpass the 1,000 season ticket threshold, Director of Sale Greg Zaskowski announced today.
"We've been consistently selling 40 to 50 season tickets a week," said Zaskowski. "We expect the pace to pick up as we get closer to the April 19th home opener and the excitement builds. I wouldn't be surprised if we sell 2,500 to 3,000 season tickets. We're definitely creating a demand for the best seats in Toyota Park and the January 31st early bird discount deadline for the $99 season tickets will also spur sales this month."
The Chicago Red Stars reached the 1,000 season ticket milestone at 3:32 pm on Wednesday afternoon when Amie Klujian secured her seats for the 2009 inaugural Red Stars season. Lee Stern, a pioneer of soccer in America and legendary owner of the Chicago Sting, kick-started the Red Stars' season ticket campaign on June 4th, the day after the team's name and logo were revealed.
The Red Stars would like to thank everyone who has already pledged their support to the Red Stars and make a commitment to the growth of soccer in Chicago.
"We would especially like to acknowledge Greater Libertyville Soccer Association, Grove United Soccer Association, Hispano Soccer League, Naperville Soccer Association, Oak Park/River Forest Strikers, Plainfield Soccer Association and FC Drive for their significant investments as Red Stars community soccer partners," said Zaskowski.
