Lancaster JetHawks News Release
(LANCASTER, CA) - The Lancaster JetHawks continued their stellar pitching Saturday night against one of the most prolific offenses in the California League, that of the Stockton Ports. Adam Mills held the Ports off the scoreboard into the seventh inning, and Josh Papelbon continued the work out of the bullpen. The JetHawks were held to only two hits, but they were both solo home runs to give the Jethawks a 2-0 shutout win over the Ports. The JetHawks win the series from the Ports and have now won three games in a row.
Mills kept pace throughout in the pitcher's duel with Ports ace Trevor Cahill. The JetHawks right-hander scattered just three hits without a walk over six and 2/3 innings to earn his team-high fifth win of the season. Josh Papelbon entered the game to finish the seventh and kept the Ports scoreless over the final two and 1/3 innings of the game to pick up his first save.
The two hits by the JetHawks match the fewest in the history of the team, but fortunately for Lancaster, they were both home runs. Daniel Nava extended his hit streak to twelve, the best of any JetHawks player this season, with a solo homer in the fifth that put the JetHawks up 1-0. Josh Reddick added a solo shot of his own in the eighth to give the JetHawks some insurance.
This was the seventh time in JetHawks history that they'd been held to just two hits. The last time came a season ago on April 19 in Visalia, a game the JetHawks lost 2-0.
The JetHawks will open a seven game road trip Sunday afternoon in Lake Elsinore. Chris Jones (2-4) starts for Lancaster while the Storm counter with Nathan Culp (3-2). The game begins at 4:08 PM. The pre-game show on Magic 1340 AM and online at www.JetHawks.com will begin at 3:53.
Individual game tickets for all JetHawks home games are available in person at the JetHawks Box Office Monday - Friday from 10 AM - 5 PM or Saturday's from 10 AM - 3 PM. Great ticket packages for multiple games are also available starting at just $56 for eight games. More information is available on-line at www.JetHawks.com.
