Don Lewis hired as Lake Erie Vikings new General Manager

CANTON, OH - The Lake Erie Vikings of the Mid-Atlantic Hockey League are pleased to announce the signing of Don Lewis as their new General Manager.
Lewis comes to the Vikings after working as an account executive for the Jacksonville Barracudas of the Southern Professional Hockey League in the 2007-2008. That season the Barracudas competed in the SPHL finals for the league championships.
"I'm excited to be returning north and joining the Mid Atlantic Hockey League," said Lewis at his signing.
Lewis has spent four years in professional hockey with the United Hockey League in addition to the SPHL. He brings a wide range of experience in hockey operations to the Vikings having worked in the front office and with the players themselves as an equipment manager.
"I am looking forward to a very successful season on and off the ice this year with the Vikings," said Lewis who will begin recruiting his staff in the coming weeks.
As the MAHL off-season continues the Vikings are now looking to fill out the front office staff and are looking to hire a talented head coach to lead the team in the 2008-2009 season.
Lewis is looking to have a new head coach behind the Vikings bench as early as the middle of May. "With a new coach in place he will start recruiting our players for the 08-09 season, to make it as successful as possible for our fans."
The hiring of Don Lewis by Lake Erie leaves only three open general manager positions in the MAHL.
"The MAHL is very pleased to have a person of Don's caliber join the Vikings," said MAHL president Andrew Haines.
"We are lucky to have Don on board and are sure he will provide an outstanding product both on and off the ice for the Lake Erie fans."
