
United Indoor Football Week Eight Review

Omaha, NE - Week eight of the United Indoor Football season is now in the books. The conference races remain very close after this weekend's games. This weekend saw the Beef beat the Ice, the Storm slip past the Rage, the Extreme edge the Bandits and the Outlaws defeat the Wild.
OMAHA 38, COLORADO 23
At Omaha, NE
The Omaha Beef beat the Colorado Ice 38-23 Saturday evening at the Omaha Civic Auditorium. Omaha was led by led by quarterback James McNear and a solid defensive effort. McNear tallied 239 yards of total offense (62 rushing and 177 passing) and had a hand in three touchdowns (one rushing and two passing). The defense tallied three tackles for loss, a sack, a fumble recovery, an interception, four pass break ups and even blocked a kick. The Ice were led by wide receiver Brian Sump and defensive back Quentin Womack. Sump caught a team-high seven passes for 89 yards and two touchdowns. He also rushed for two touchdowns. Womack led Colorado with a team-high nine tackles (eight solo and assisted on two more). In week nine, Omaha welcomes Wichita and Colorado will host Billings.
SIOUX FALLS 41, RIVERCITY 32
At St. Charles, MO
The Sioux Falls Storm slipped past the RiverCity Rage 41-32 Saturday night at the Family Arena. Leading the way for the Storm were quarterback Terrance Bryant and defensive lineman Rachman Crable. Bryant completed 21 of 27 passes for 159 yards and four touchdowns. Crable led the Storm's defense with seven tackles, a tackle for loss, a sack and also broke up a pass. The Rage were led by linebacker Joe Bevis and new quarterback Steve Rush. Bevis made a team-high 9.5 tackles (seven solo and assisted on five more), .5 tackle for loss and also had a quarterback hurry. Rush had 138 yards of total offense (96 rushing and 42 passing) and a hand in all four of the Rage's touchdowns (two rushing and two passing). In week nine, Sioux Falls welcomes Sioux City and RiverCity heads to Bloomington.
BLOOMINGTON 53, SIOUX CITY 49
At Sioux City, IA
The Bloomington Extreme edged the Sioux City Bandits 53-49 Saturday evening at the Tyson Events Center. The Extreme were led by quarterback Dusty Burk and defensive lineman Quince Holman. Burk completed 16 of 26 passes for 228 yards and five touchdowns while also rushing for 26 yards and another score. Holman tied for the team lead with nine total tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, forced a fumble and also had a quarterback hurry. The Bandits were led by quarterback Chad Kapanui and defensive back John Zevenbergen. Kapanui completed 15 of 25 passes for 183 yards and three touchdowns; he also rushed for 36 yards. Zevenbergen made a 5.5 tackles and also intercepted a pass. In week nine, Bloomington hosts RiverCity and Sioux City travels to Sioux Falls.
BILLINGS 55, WICHITA 13
At Billings, MT
The Billings Outlaws defeated the Wichita Wild 55-13 Saturday evening at Rimrock Auto Arena at MetraPark. Billings was led by quarterback Chris Dixon and their defense. Dixon completed 15 of 20 passes for 193 yards and five touchdowns (four to Robert Reed and one to Willie Austin). The Outlaws' defense tallied seven tackles for loss and two sacks, intercepted a pass, broke up seven more passes and also blocked a kick. Wichita was led by defensive back Ene Akpan and quarterback Efi Eyo. Akpan made 4.5 tackles (one TFL) and a sack. Eyo tallied 105 yards of total offense (21 rushing and 105 passing) and one touchdown (to Carlos Cavanaugh). In week nine, Billings travels south to Colorado and Wichita heads north to Omaha.
