
Fort Wayne Moves On To Turner Cup Finals

ROCHESTER, MI--- The Fort Wayne Komets needed six games to defeat the Muskegon Fury to earn their place in the 2008 Turner Cup Finals. The Komets won Saturday night by a score of 4-1, earning their 12th IHL Turner Cup Finals appearance franchise history.
Fort Wayne jumped on the Fury early, scoring three goals in the first five and a half minutes of the opening period. Muskegon then pulled starting goaltender Isaac Reichmuth for Clayton Pool, who stopped 21 of 23 shots he faced from Fort Wayne.
Leading the Komets in scoring in the first round was right wing Luciano Aquino. He scored five goals and two assists for seven points, posting points in five of the six games played. Goaltenders Nick Boucher and Kevin Reiter both spent time between the pipes for Fort Wayne with each goalie earning shutouts against Muskegon in the first round.
Fort Wayne will face Port Huron in the Turner Cup Finals. The schedule for the finals has yet to be determined.
