Kournikova adds WTT match in Newport Beach

NEW YORK, N.Y. (April 23, 2008) - Anna Kournikova has added a fourth match to her World TeamTennis Pro League schedule this July. Kournikova, who plays for the St. Louis Aces, will play in Newport Beach, Calif., on July 16 when the Newport Beach Breakers host the Aces at the Newport Beach Country Club.
The 2008 WTT schedule includes 77 matches in 11 markets beginning July 3 and running through July 23. Five teams will advance to the WTT Championship Weekend, July 24-27 in Roseville, Calif.
The former world no. 1 doubles star will play four matches for the St. Louis Aces, three on the road and one at home at Dwight Davis Tennis Center. Kournikova begins her sixth WTT season in Newport Beach on July 16. Her home match is set for Friday, July 18, in St. Louis and will be followed by visits to the New York Buzz in Schenectady, N.Y., on July 22, and the Washington Kastles on July 23 in Washington, D.C. Kournikova won 16 doubles titles during her pro career, including two Grand Slams, and was ranked as high as no. 8 in singles.
