Indiana Alley Cats To Find New Home

July 6, 2007 - Continental Basketball Association 1 (CBA 1) News Release

ALBANY, NY (July 6, 2007) -- The Continental Basketball Association today, in conjunction with Trinity Sports and Entertainment Group, Inc., announced that the Indiana Alley Cats will not return to play in Anderson, Indiana this coming season, but will instead search for a new home to resume play in the 2008-2009 season.

"From the very beginning of last season, we knew the team was going to have a tough time in Anderson," stated Demetrius Ford, Trinity's chief executive. "The ABA moved into the market with the Anderson Champions and somehow managed to even negotiate a deal to play in our own venue a month prior to the start of the CBA's season. This created mass confusion as to which team was actually returning from the prior year and made it virtually impossible to secure corporate partnerships or to sell season tickets. The Anderson Champions quickly folded, leaving the Alley Cats alone in the city, but local support failed to improve. We sincerely thank the fans that did support the team the past two seasons in Anderson, but the business is simply not sustainable without a dramatic improvement at the gate and with corporate sponsors. Our only option is to move the team to a market that will truly appreciate and take ownership of what the Alley Cats bring."

"It was a very difficult situation to be in," said Rob Blackwell, Alley Cats president, "but Trinity never considered folding the team to cut losses. It was extremely frustrating for me personally because we assembled a great team that played hard every single game. Shaun Fountain led the entire league in scoring and steals. Former NBA guard Erick Barkley played for us. The basketball was fast and exciting, but we just couldn't get Anderson to come out and experience it."

Trinity co-founder and 10-year veteran NFL quarterback Jay Fiedler added, "We're confident that we'll find a great and supportive home for this organization in plenty of time to be ready for the 2008 season. We have many options right now and will give them all careful consideration. We came very close to merging the team with the Gary [Indiana] Steelheads who expressed interest in returning to the CBA, but there just wasn't enough time to put the deal together for this coming season. The opportunity came to us just three weeks ago."

"While we are disappointed that the Alley Cats will not be playing in the 2007-08 season, we are confident that Trinity Sports and Entertainment group will be able to find them a suitable home for the 2008-09 season. We are actively working with them to secure a new venue for them to play in next season," said CBA Vice-President of Basketball Operations Dennis Truax.

Trinity Sports and Entertainment Group, Inc. is a sports and entertainment holding and management company. The company owns the CBA Indiana Alley Cats, the CBA East Kentucky Miners (2007-08 expansion team) and Converge Entertainment (exclusive entertainment partner of the CBA), a concert and special events promotions and management company.
