NFL Europa make final roster cuts before openers

The final action of the 2007 NFL Europa training camp took place in Tampa, Florida, on Saturday as game-condition scrimmages were held at Jefferson High School.
The action on the field came just hours before the dreaded final cuts as all six NFL Europa teams trimmed their rosters in preparation for their journey overseas to Germany and the Netherlands.
Rhein Fire head coach RICK LANTZ said: "I don't like cutting players but I know it's part of my job. It's the least attractive part of my job."
"Making cuts is never an easy thing to do," added Cologne Centurions head coach DAVID DUGGAN. "Some of these guys have to say good-bye to their friends and teammates but those who are still here deserve to be here. I like the make-up of our team."
The Frankfurt Galaxy will head into the 2007 season as defending champions and head coach MIKE JONES is confident his club can make a solid defense of their crown.
"I think this training camp is something we can build on," the 2006 Coach of the Year said. "We have a pretty good team and this has been the best training camp I have had since I have been in NFL Europa."
Each NFL Europa club carries 40 American players (36 active, 2 league active, 2 practice squad) and eight international athletes. League active players can perform for their NFL Europa club but remain the property of the league and can be reassigned should a need arise at another team. Practice squad players practice with their NFL Europa team but are inactive on gamedays.
The 2007 NFL Europa season kicks off on Saturday April 14 and concludes with Yello Strom World Bowl XV on Saturday June 23.
