Hoffman Estates, Ill. (November 8, 2006) - Brett Vickers, President of Chicagoland Sports LLC, confirmed today that both William "Refrigerator" Perry and Steve "Mongo" McMichael are interviewing for positions with the new Continental Indoor Football League team. Both Perry and McMichael will visit the new Sears Centre in Hoffman Estates next week to tour the facility and meet with Vickers to discuss the positions available with the expansion team.
Perry will meet with Vickers on Monday, November 13 at 2pm at the Sears Centre
McMichael's meeting with Vickers will be Tuesday, November 14 at 2pm at the Sears Centre.
Vickers, Perry, and McMichael have agreed to meet with press and answer questions about the upcoming season and their potential to work together. Also, the tour of the facility will be open to members of the press who are interested.
"This is a great opportunity to add excitement and Chicago tradition to a brand new team," said Vickers about selecting these two athletes as potential employees of the CIFL team, "we are looking forward to meeting with Perry and McMichael to see they can help us bring this team to life."
The Continental Indoor Football League is a professional developmental indoor football league designed to deliver fast-paced action-packed football. The Chicago franchise will debut in March 2007 and will join the league in its second year. The first season was played under the "Great Lakes Indoor Football League" moniker, and it was a resounding success, with over 75,000 fans watching GLIFL games in 2006. The CIFL has created a unique style of indoor football. The 7-on-7 concept was designed to allow fans to experience the wide open feeling of 50-yard indoor football while seeing defenses have the opportunity to make plays. The CIFL was created to give players the opportunity to play professional football. For some players, it will be a dream come true to step on the field and play. The league also works diligently to get those players promoted to higher leagues (AFL, CFL, NFL-Europe, NFL). Players moving on to higher leagues (like WR/LB L.J. Parker) will improve the overall talent pool in the CIFL. The Sears Centre will be home to CIFL football. It is an 11,000-seat state of the art multi-purpose family entertainment, sports and cultural center under construction in Hoffman Estates' Prairie Stone Business Park. Located right at I-90 and Route 59, it will host more than 135 events each year, and is projected to attract more than 750,000 annual visitors.
