
AIFL is Dead, AFIA is Born

The American Indoor Football League held its final owner's meeting today, September 29, 2006, in Florence, SC. Although there was much anticipation and excitement for the upcoming season, some final business had to be discussed before the season kicked off. Team owners made a quick and unanimous decision to play under the Brand new league called the American Indoor Football Association.
The change was brought on with the expectation of an even faster paced, fan friendly game. Introducing the owners of the new American Indoor Football Association, Michael Mink, and John Morris, both with an expertise background in business, as well as sports management and marketing. The owners plan to bring a different competitive edge to the association. Mr. Morris and Mr. Mink are co-owners of the current Montgomery Bears organization, and also own an expansion team named the Carolina Speed based in Concord, NC.
When asked about the new change, John Morris replied, "We are ecstatic about our new status as owners of the AIFA, and have nothing but the highest expectations for the upcoming season."
Along with the new faces is Jack Bowman. Jack was also unanimously voted as the National Director of the AIFA. "Jack Bowman is a credit to our organization and we expect nothing but great things from him. He was our first choice to direct us into the 2007 season and now we are ready to take off," said Michael Mink
It seemed as though the meetings were surrounded by a sense of great things to come, as team owners were smiling and applauding the new decisions.
"I am extremely excited about the new AIFA. I think that John Morris and Michael Mink have some great ideas for the future of the AIFA, and I can speak on behalf of the entire Florence Phantoms organization when I say we can not wait for the season to begin," said the Florence Phantoms owner Joey Shannon.
"After a lot of hard work, we made much progress. We are looking forward to the upcoming season. The fans are in for an action packed year, as we will defend our National Championship..." Was the reaction from Canton Legends owner Joe Hoffman.
Along with the new changes, the owners set the final schedule for the upcoming 2007 season, which will be posted on the AIFA website, www.AIFAPROFOOTBALL.com as early as this coming week.
The AIFA season kicks off in early February. The New League Logo will be released on Monday with other news from this weekend's AIFA Owner's meeting.
