Long Beach Armada News Release

(Pleasanton, CA. May 30, 2006) The Golden Baseball League today announced that RHP Jeff Heaverlo of the Long Beach Armada has had his contract purchased by the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim and will report to their Triple-A ballclub in Salt Lake City, Utah.

"This comes as no surprise," said Long Beach Armada Manager Darrell Evans. "Jeff is a big league pitcher and I'm looking forward to watching him pitch at the Big A very soon. He was outstanding in Spring Training as we had him sharp and ready to be our opening day starter."

Heaverlo, 28, was the first round pick of the Seattle Mariners in the 1999 draft out of the University of Washington. He progressed through their farm system reaching Double A in 2001 where he was selected an All-Star as he led the Texas League in strikeouts, shutouts, and complete games. Arm problems forced him off the mound for the entire 2002 season, but he came back strong the next year and has pitched the last three seasons for the Mariner's Triple A ballclub in Tacoma. Released as a six-year free agent, he joined the Long Beach Armada for this season where he began work with Armada Pitching Coach Jon Warden.

Warden is gaining a reputation, as he has also worked with all five pitchers from the 2005 Armada that have been acquired by Major League Organizations.

Long Beach opens on the road at the Reno Silver Sox on Friday, June 2nd to begin the 2006 season. Their home opener is set for Monday June 12th versus the Chico Outlaws. Visit the Armada at www.longbeacharmada.com for tickets and merchandise, or call the box office at 562-434-7161.
