May 9, 2006 - National Football League Europa (NFLE) News Release

MIAMI Dolphins-allocated quarterback BROCK BERLIN has been named NFL Europe's Offensive Player of Week 8 after leading the Hamburg Sea Devils to their first victory of the 2006 campaign against the Berlin Thunder.

In powering his club to a 38-14 win, Berlin completed 12 of 15 passes for 183 yards, 3 touchdowns and no interceptions. His passer rating of 157.1 was the fourth-highest in NFL Europe League history and just shy of the highest possible ranking of 158.3.

Berlin, who did not start the contest against the Thunder, said: "We played well offensively and we came out and did some good things. We're just trying to finish the season on a positive note. I was able to come in and do some good things and get into a rhythm."

With two weeks of the regular season remaining, Berlin has thrown for 746 yards, 6 touchdowns and 6 interceptions for a quarterback rating of 64.9.

Cologne Centurions safety KEVIN CURTIS (Houston Texans) was named Defensive Player of the Week following an outstanding display during his team's 20-13 defeat of the league-leading Amsterdam Admirals.

Curtis intercepted 2 passes and added 5 tackles, 1 special teams stop and 3 passes defended as the Centurions improved to 3-5 on the season.

The playmaking free safety now jointly leads NFL Europe with 4 interceptions and has tacked on 38 tackles, 10 passes defended and 5 special teams takedowns. Under Curtis' leadership, the Centurions defense has picked off a league-leading 13 passes this season and has added 9 fumble recoveries for an NFLEL-high 22 takeaways.

Frankfurt Galaxy kicker DAVID KIMBALL (Oakland Raiders) was named Special Teams Player of the Week for the second time in the past three weeks as he kicked a game-winning 23-yard field goal with two seconds remaining to lead his team past the Rhein Fire by a 16-14 scoreline.

Kimball earned his other Player of the Week prize in Week 6 after kicking a last-second game-winner against the Berlin Thunder. He converted field goals of 29 and 33 yards before being called upon to nail the match-winning points that catapulted the Galaxy to within touching distance of a berth in Yello Strom World Bowl XIV.

Kimball ranks second among NFLEL kickers with 56 points having converted 14 of 22 field goals (49 long) and all 14 of his PATs.

Berlin Thunder English defensive tackle DANIEL WATTS was named National Player of the Week for his efforts during a losing cause against the Cologne Centurions.

The second-year lineman made his first start of the season and registered 5 tackles, 1 sack, 1 forced fumble and 1 fumble recovery.

Watts said: "I was just out there working hard. I definitely feel like I played my best game of the year. I went in there and started on defense for the first time ever, so I had to step my game up. Luckily, from a personal standpoint, everything went well."
