Sioux Falls Skyforce News Release

Sioux Falls, SD (September 29, 2005) - The Sioux Falls Skyforce announced today the signings of Renaldo Major and Joe Dabbert for the 2005-06 season, pending league approval. Per club rules, terms of the contracts are confidential.

Renaldo Major joins the Skyforce via Gary, Indiana as he enjoyed a solid rookie season with the Steelheads. The Fresno State alum averaged 7.2 points and 3.4 rebounds per game in 36 contests (8 starts). Once Major was thrown in the starting lineup, he took advantage of the increased playing time as he averaged 11.2 points along with 6.2 rebounds per game. His season was also highlighted by winning the 2005 Slam Dunk Contest in front of his home crowd at the 2005 CBA All-Star Classic in Gary, Indiana. After the CBA season was completed, Major took his game to the USBL. He averaged 16.1 points and 4.4 rebounds per game on his way to earning All-USBL Second Team honors. He went on to average 12.7 points in the USBL Posteason Classic to help lead the Dodge City Legend to the 2005 Championship. "Renaldo Major is very athletic and a tremendous defender, not to mention a terrific person," said Coach Joerger. "This is a great first signing for us as we think his best basketball is ahead of him."

Joe Dabbert joins the Skyforce after a successful rookie campaign with the Great Lakes Storm. The Creighton alum averaged 8.1 points along with 4.5 rebounds per game in 43 games (14 starts). Those numbers are deceiving though, as he played most of the season behind, CBA Rookie of the Year, Jackie Butler before he was called up to the New York Knicks. After the departure of Butler to the NBA, Dabbert shined as he was named CBA Player of the Week after posting 26.5 points and 11.5 rebounds per game in two contests. His outstanding play helped gain his team their first ever playoff berth and a #1 seed in the Eastern Conference Finals. Dabbert averaged 12.8 points and 7.4 rebounds in five postseason contests. "Joe Dabbert is a skilled big man who can really rebound and make open perimeter shots," said Coach Joerger. "He is big and tough, he will definitely make an impact here."

The Skyforce's season opener is on Saturday, November 19th at home against the Dakota Wizards. Fans are encouraged to attend as the team will celebrate their 2005 CBA Championship. Call the Skyforce office for ticket information at (605) 332-0605.
