Adirondack's Hugo Belanger named UHL MVPApril 28, 2005 - International Hockey League 2 (IHL 2) Press Release
The 34-year-old St. Hubert, Quebec native led the UHL in scoring with 106 points (34g, 72a). His 72 assists tied for the second most in the league. His 31 power play assists tied for second in the UHL and his 40 power play points were fifth in the league. The Adirondack captain had four game-winning goals and played in 79 of 80 Frostbite games during the regular season.
Belanger has collected over 100 points in eight consecutive seasons and nine times overall in his 12-year professional career. It is the fourth time that he has been named the Sher-Wood UHL Most Valuable Player.
Belanger was selected to Team Pepsi in the 2005 Pepsi UHL All-Star Classic in January and was named one of the game MVPs. He was also recently named to the 2004-05 UHL All-Star First Team and named the 2004-05 UHL Most Sportsmanlike Player.
