Published on December 14, 2004 under Major League Lacrosse (MLL) News Release

Boston, MA (December 14, 2004) – Major League Lacrosse (MLL), the premiere professional outdoor lacrosse league, today announced that Gatorade® Thirst Quencher has agreed to an extension of its league-wide sponsorship as the "Official Sports Beverage of Major League Lacrosse," according to MLL Commissioner David Gross. With a term of five years, the partnership agreement is the longest in MLL history. Financial terms of the contract are not being disclosed.

"We couldn't be more thrilled that The Gatorade Company has stepped up with this commitment," said MLL Founder Jake Steinfeld, CEO of Body By Jake Global L.L.C.

"The best athletes in the world all drink Gatorade and, as everyone knows, the MLL has the best lacrosse players in the world," added Jake. "This is a perfect fit."

As part of the sponsorship, Gatorade, the nation's leading sports drink, will be provided to Major League Lacrosse players during games and practices. Gatorade will receive VIP hospitality tickets for promotional and corporate use and enjoy promotional support through on-field signage, public address announcements, commercial units during the MLL's "Game of the Week" telecasts on ESPN2, presence in the official MLL game-day program, and presence on the MLL's official web site. Gatorade's trademark towels and coolers will also take their traditional place along the sidelines at all MLL games.

"Gatorade is the best product available for our players, which is obviously very important to the League," said Gross. "It is equally significant, though, that Gatorade has made such a strong commitment to support the MLL, its teams and its players."

"Gatorade is an essential piece of sports equipment on the field, and is used by professional and elite athletes in every sport around the world," said Tom Fox, senior vice president of sports marketing for Gatorade. "Lacrosse is growing in popularity and participants in the US, and is a perfect place for us to be -- we are excited to officially bring Gatorade to the sidelines of Major League Lacrosse."
