Arizona Rattlers News Release
Phoenix, AZ - The Arizona Rattlers announced the signing of former Arizona Cardinal MarTay Jenkins (6-0, 206, Nebraska-Omaha) today. Jenkins was a Cardinal from 1999 to 2002, and also spent time with the Atlanta Falcons and Denver Broncos. As per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Jenkins attended the Rattlers open tryouts this past weekend, and impressed GM Gene Nudo and Todd Shell enough to garner a contract.
"He looked very impressive at our workouts," said GM Gene Nudo. "I think he can step in and help us. He's been in the NFL, so he can play at an extremely high level."
In his three seasons with the Cardinals, Jenkins appeared in 47 games, making 70 catches for 987 yards and four touchdowns. He also returned 151 kickoffs for 3,865 yards and two touchdowns.
"I'm real glad to be here in Arizona, it's good to be able to stay home," said Jenkins, who will play WR/DB for the Rattlers. "I know a lot of guys on the team, the coaches have already accepted me and let me become part of the team. What can I say, it's good to be a Rattler."
The Arizona Rattlers will kick off their 14th season in January 2005. For ticket information call 602-514-TDTD or log on to www.AZRattlers.com.
