USBL completes day one of Post-Season Festival

MILFORD, CT â The United States Basketball League, Inc. (USBL) completed the opening night of the 12th annual Post-Season Festival. Exciting games were the norm and individual play was at an all-time high.
GAME 1 â DODGE CITY LEGEND 99, WESTCHESTER WILDFIRE 89
The Legend got out to an early 25-23 1st quarter lead and expanded the lead to 48-40 at the end of the first half. The Wildfire fought back and got the deficit back to seven, but the Legend stayed strong and pulled away to a 99-89 victory. Ray Young led the way with 24 points, 12 coming from the free throw line for the Legend. Roberto Bergersen, who recently signed to play in Belgium at the end of the USBL season, scored 18 points. David Bailey had 17 points for the Legend. Cheyne Gadson had 17 points and Lance Williams had 20 points and 14 rebounds in the loss. The Wildfire finish the season at 14-17, while the Legend continue to have the best record in the USBL at 23-8, and move on to the 2nd round of Post-Season play.
GAME 2 â PENNSYLVANIA VALLEYDAWGS 113, CEDAR RAPIDS RIVER RAIDERS 104
In a hard fought game that came down to a 40 foot bank shot made by John Thomas with less than a minute to play, the ValleyDawgs pulled out a 113-104 victory over the scrappy River Raiders. Marcus Fleming led six ValleyDawgs players in double figures with 27 points and he also pulled down a team high 12 rebounds. Frantz Pierre-Louis had his usual Post-Season outstanding play with 20 points and 8 rebounds. DeSean Hadley had 26 points, 16 from the free throw line, to lead the way for the River Raiders. David Dixon had 17 points and Dean Oliver had 13 points for the River Raiders. The River Raiders end the season at 17-14, while the ValleyDawgs look forward to facing the Legend in a rematch of last years Post-Season Festival.
GAME 3 â BROOKLYN KINGS 104, OKLAHOMA STORM 93
The Storm jumped out to a 55-47 half time lead, but the wheels fell off, and the Kings outscored the Storm 57 to 38 on route to a 104-93 win. BJ McFarlan had a monster game with 42 points and 14 rebounds in the win. McFarlan shot an incredible 14 of 19 from the field and 14 of 16 from the line. Mike Campbell had 18 points, 14 from the line, and 2004 USBL Player of the Year Chudney Gray had 13 points for the victorious Kings. Lamont Turner had 25 points, and Patrick Okafor had 19 points and 14 rebounds for the Storm. Former NBA participant Chris Porter had 23 points in the loss.
GAME 4 â KANSAS CAGERZ 124, ADIRONDACK WILDCATS 94
The hometown Cagerz jumped out to an early 29-20 1st quarter lead and never looked back in a 124-94 Cagerz victory. Cleotis Brown put on a dunking display on route to 23 points for the Cagerz. Lee Benson had 21 points and 14 rebounds, and Johnny Jackson had 21 rebounds for the Cagerz. Gary Williams returned to his former land in the Bicentennial Center with 22 points for the Wildcats. Taliek Brown had 21 points and Brandon Hawkins had 19 points for the Wildfire. The Cagerz set a new USBL Post-Season record with 80 team rebounds in the win.
