WICHITA FALLS, Texas - Following a successful season with the Wichita Falls Wildcats, forward Paul Soubry III has committed to continue his career at the collegiate level at Augsburg College, it was announced Friday.

"I am very excited to have this opportunity, "Soubry said. "Augsburg is a strong school academically, and from a hockey standpoint, all the coaches and players I met were great guys. I want to thank the entire Wildcats organization, including the coaching staff and Paul Baxter, for their support this season."

Soubry turned in a solid season in his only campaign in Wichita Falls, recording 12 points (six goals, six assists) in 54 games played. In addition to his contributions on the offensive end, the Manitoba-born forward carved out an important role defensively as well, becoming a crucial piece of the Wildcats' penalty kill as the season progressed.

"Paul put in the work every day and was one of our most improved players this year because of that work ethic," Wildcats Head Coach John LaFontaine said. "He was a key penalty-killer and center for us down the stretch, and always had a positive attitude on the ice and in the room. We are excited to see his hard work pay off with this great opportunity, and we look forward to watching him further his career with a strong program like Augsburg."

While the athletic and academic strengths may have initially drawn him to the school, for Soubry, there is an additional benefit to attending the Minnesota-based Augsburg.

"It is much closer to home than where I have played the past couple of years," he said, "so it will be nice for friends and family to be able to come watch a game more often."

Founded in 1869 as a Norwegian-American Seminary, Augsburg College is a private liberal arts college located in Minneapolis. Augsburg competes in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, a Division III conference comprised solely of schools located in Minnesota. The Auggies finished the 2014-15 season with a record of 12-14.

Registration is now open for the Wildcats' 2015 Pre-Draft and Open Camps. For more information, or to register for camp, visit the "Become a Wildcat" section of the website, or contact Coach LaFontaine at [email protected].
