2014-15 Playoff Format Announced

PHOENIX, AZ (August 28, 2014) - The Central Hockey League announced today the playoff format for the 2014-15 season. Seven member teams will play the regular season in the Berry Conference with participating teams made up of the Allen Americans, Brampton Beast, Missouri Mavericks, Quad City Mallards, Rapid City Rush, Tulsa Oilers and Wichita Thunder.
The post-season and quest for the Ray Miron Presidents' Cup will consist of the top six teams with the top two ranked teams, based on total points, earning byes in the Opening Round. Seed number three will play seed number six and seed number four will play seed number five in the Opening Round with the two winning clubs advancing to the Conference Semifinals, joining the first and second seeds. Teams will be re-seeded in the Conference Semifinals with the regular season points champion playing the remaining team with the lowest point total from the regular season.
The Opening Round and Conference Semifinals will both be best-of-5 series', while the Ray Miron Presidents' Cup Finals will be a best-of-7 and home-ice advantage in the post-season will be determined by point totals with the higher total earning the advantage.
The CHL's regular season begins on Friday, October 24 and concludes on Saturday, April 4 with the playoffs beginning the week of April 6.
