Tarpons get first win; Cincy ends EKY home streak

FT. MYERS, FL - Florida quarterback Brian Harris threw for 229 yards and six touchdowns as the Tarpons opened its season with the 58-35 victory over Mississippi Friday at the Germain Arena.

Four of Harris' six scores went to Donald Fusilier, who finished with five catches for 70 yards. Carlos Singleton hauled in nine passes for 147 yards and one touchdown. Thanks in part to seven sacks, the Tarpons defense help Mississippi to negative 29 yards rushing.

Mississippi quarterbacks - Jamie Boland and Richard McFadden - continued to struggle in the passing game. They duo combined to go 13-of-25 for 137 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions.

CINCINNATI 64, EASTERN KENTUCKY 51: Tyler Sheehan threw for five of his eight touchdowns in Cincinnati's 30-point second quarter as the Commandos held won its second game of the season, beating Eastern Kentucky, 64-51.

The victory extends Cincinnati's winning streak to 15 games and ends the Drillers' eight-game home streak. It was the first-ever loss in the Eastern Kentucky Exposition Center for Eastern Kentucky.

For the second consecutive game, a Cincinnati receiver laid waste to a franchise single game receiving record. Barnett hauled in 10 passes for 132 yards, breaking records set by Brandon Boehm last week. He added three touchdown receptions in the victory.

Eastern Kentucky quarterback Allan Holland went 16-for-32 for 191 yards, four touchdowns and two interceptions. Holland added two rushing scores in the loss.

All three of Lynell Suggs' catches went for touchdowns with the other score going to running back Maurice Douse. Aric Evans led the Drillers with seven catches for 70 yards.
