Surge Sign Calgary Native Mathieu Kamba

April 24, 2024 - The Calgary Surge have signed six-foot-five guard Mathieu Kamba for the 2024 season, the team announced Wednesday. Kamba spent the 2020 and 2021 CEBL seasons with the Edmonton Stingers where he averaged 12.0 points, 3.3 rebounds, 1.2 assists, and 29.6 minutes. Calgary Surge Announce Tyrell Vernon as New Head Coach for the 2024 Season

April 18, 2024 - Tyrell Vernon will be the next head coach of the Calgary Surge and lead the team for the 2024 season, the team announced Thursday. Vernon just wrapped his third season as head coach of the St. Francis Xavier X Men basketball program. He joined the X-Men and X-Women coaching staff as an associate coach in April 2019. He then succeeded long-time head coach (and Surge Senior Advisor) Steve Konchalski, as the head coach of the X-Men basketball program at the completion of the 2020-21 season. Calgary Surge Sign Malcolm Duvivier

March 28, 2024 - The Calgary Surge have signed Malcolm Duvivier for the 2024 season, the team announced Wednesday. Duvivier is no stranger to the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL), having signed as a free agent with the Fraser Valley Bandits (now Vancouver Bandits) in 2020. Calgary Surge Re-Sign Guard Stef Smith

March 20, 2024 - The Calgary Surge have re-signed Stef Smith for the 2024 season, the team announced Wednesday. Smith served as point guard in the Calgary Surge's inaugural season. He started in 21 games and averaged 15.4 points, 4.7 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 30.1 minutes per game. This was his second season in the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL), after receiving his professional start with the Guelph Nighthawks, where he averaged 7.6 points, 2.6 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 17.6 minutes in 16 games played.
