Shaq Harrison Named Kia NBA G League Defensive Player of the Year

April 4, 2024 - EL SEGUNDO - South Bay Lakers guard Shaq Harrison has been named the 2023-24 Kia NBA G League Defensive Player of the Year, it was announced today. Harrison becomes only the fourth multi-year winner of the award in NBA G League history, having also claimed the honor following the 2021-22 campaign. In 34 regular season games (31 starts) for South Bay this season, Harrison averaged a league-leading 2.9 steals to go along with 15.1 points, 5.6 rebounds and 6.5 assists in 34.1 minutes. March 30, 2024 - EL SEGUNDO - The South Bay Lakers fell to the Mexico City Capitanes by a 120-108 final tally Saturday evening at UCLA Health Training Center, in their regular season finale. Bryce Hamilton paced South Bay in scoring with 33. Ethan Thompson led the way for Mexico City with 42. Similar to the night before, the Lakers slow start found them behind by double digits early on. March 29, 2024 - EL SEGUNDO - The South Bay Lakers fell to the Mexico City Capitanes by a 118-07 final tally Friday evening at UCLA Health Training Center, bringing their NBA G League regular season record to 18-15. Bryce Hamilton paced South Bay in scoring with 35. Ethan Thompson led the way for Mexico City (18-15) with 27.
