Zach Britton Named Top-100 Prospect
The honors keep rolling in for 2010 Tides pitcher Zach Britton, who was named as the 28th best prospect in all baseball by Baseball America late Wednesday. Shortstop Manny Machado also cracked the list at 14.
Britton, the Orioles top pitching prospect and its Minor League Pitcher of the Year in 2010, went 7-3 with a 2.48 ERA in his first 15 starts at Double-A Bowie last year. After being promoted to Triple-A Norfolk, he went 3-4 with a 2.98 ERA in 12 starts for the Tides. The 23-year old was also honored as a top-50 prospect by the MLB Network and the third-best left-handed pitching prospect by MLB.com earlier this off-season.
The Norfolk Tides will open the 2011 season in Charlotte on Thursday, April 7. The team will make its Harbor Park debut against the same Charlotte Knights on Saturday, April 16. Season ticket packages and Tides Ten Packs are currently available over the phone or by visiting the Tides Box Office at Harbor Park.
