Yard Goats Start Road Trip with Victory

Reading, PA - The Hartford Yard Goats defeated the Reading Fightin Phils by the score of 5-3 on Tuesday night at FirstEnergy Stadium in Reading, Pennsylvania. The Yard Goats broke a 1-1 tie with a pair of runs in the sixth inning on doubles by Sam Hilliard and Mylz Jones. Omar Carrizales added to the lead as he connected on this third home run, a two-run blast in the eighth inning to make it 5-1. Jesus Tinoco pitched well over five innings to earn his seventh win of the season as the Yard Goats ended a three game losing streak and won the first game of a three-city eight game road trip.

Reading scored the first run of the game in the second inning off Hartford starter Jesus Tinoco. Deivi Grullon led off with a single and Jon Vazquez walked. Drew Stankiewicz followed with an RBI single scoring Grullon and giving Reading a 1-0 lead. Tinoco retired the next three batters.

The Yard Goats tied the game in the third inning off Reading starter Connor Seabold. Scott Burcham led off the frame with a single. Seabold retired the next two batters before Omar Carrizales doubled to right center field and Burcham scored all the way from first base and tied the game at 1-1.

The Yard Goats continue their road trip and play the middle of a three game series in Reading, PA on Wednesday night. The game will be broadcast on AM 1410 WPOP and streamed on newsradio.1410.com and MiLB.com.
