World Bowl Halftime Show Set

Published on May 29, 2002 under National Football League Europa (NFLE) News Release

WORLD BOWL X, presented by E-Plus, will feature a stunning musical line-up as part of the festivities in Düsseldorf's Rheinstation on Saturday June 22.

FAITHLESS, one of Europe's most successful dance music acts, will perform during halftime of the NFLEL's championship game. British rockers STATUS QUO, with more than 30 years of chart success behind them, will headline a pregame show that also features ORANGE BLUE

The musical line-up continues the World Bowl's recent history of showcasing some of the world's biggest acts, following Grammy Award-winner COOLIO's performance at World Bowl IX in Amsterdam last year and a half-time show by leading pop band FIVE in Frankfurt in 2000.

JIM CONNELLY, Managing Director of NFL Europe, said: "World Bowl is about more than just football, it is a mix of great sport and top-class entertainment. We want people in the stadium to feel as though they are at the biggest party of the year. The musical acts are an important part of that and to have bands of this calibre performing says a lot about the stature that World Bowl has achieved in recent years."

Faithless have been together since 1995, winning immediate worldwide renown with their debut album Reverence and a trio of hit singles. Three more hit albums have followed, including last year's Outrospective, which included the single We Come 1. more....

Status Quo had their first chart success in 1968 and have enjoyed a succession of best-selling singles and albums ever since. Their hits include songs like Sweet Caroline, Down Down, Whatever You Want and Rockin' All Over The World, the song with which they opened the Live Aid concert at Wembley Stadium in 1985. Their total of more than 50 British hit singles is the most in UK music history, with the hits and sell-out concerts continuing across Europe into the 21st century.

The music of Orange Blue featured on the Disney movie 'Dinosaurs' and they will team up with the Düsseldorf Symphony Orchestra to perform She's Got That Light as part of the World Bowl pregame show.

World Bowl X will be contested by the top two teams in the NFL Europe League standings at the end of the regular season. The game will be broadcast to more than 150 countries, reaching an estimated worldwide audience of 200 million, including live in the United States on FOX.
