Worcester Offense Continues to Roll

Worcester, MA - After a come-from-behind win last night against Brockton, Worcester looked to continue rolling against North Shore. They did just that, coming away with a 17-7 win and for the second straight game, every batter in the Worcester lineup recorded a hit.
Worcester starting pitcher Tyler Patane went 6 innings giving up three runs, nine hits while striking out six while picking up the win.
North Shore quickly jumped on Worcester, scoring once in each of the first three innings of the game. In the bottom of the second, with the Navigators up 2-0, Brett Coffel got Worcester on the board, tying the game in the second inning. A two run home run which scored Eddie Haus, who reached on a walk, brought the 'Hearts right back in the game.
After the Navigators added one more in the top of the third inning, the Bravehearts answered in the bottom of the inning and never gave it up. Singles by Joseph Pesce and Chris Rinaldi put Worcester in position to score early. Michael Dellicarri then tripled, scoring both runs and giving Worcester the lead. Dellicarri was then driven in on a single from Edward Haus.
With a 5-3 lead, Worcester added three more insurance runs in the following inning. Kirk Sidwell started the inning with a single and was brought in by a Jon Hansen double. Joe Pesce stepped up next and singled in Hansen. Mariano Ricciardi. Chris Rinaldi also singled to advance Pesce to third. A Dustin Harris sac fly scored Pesce for the eighth Worcester run.
Facing an 8-3 deficit, North Shore looked to rally back in the top of the 7th. With a run already on the board, North Shore had the bases loaded and two outs with the tying run at the plate. Corey DiLoreto ground a ball to third base that kicked off of Jon Hansen's foot and rolled all the way into centerfield, scoring three more runs, cutting the deficit to one run.
The Bravehearts would quickly answer in the bottom of the inning, as Haus led off the inning with a solo home run over the left field fence to give Worcester a 9-7 lead.
Worcester was not done there, as they added another eight runs in the eighth. Back-to-back singles by Rinaldi and Dellicarri put runners at the corners to lead off the inning. Dustin Harris followed with an RBI double to score Rinaldi. With an intentional walk to Haus, the bases were loaded for Coffel. The catcher ripped a double down the left field line scoring all three runs, giving him five RBIs on the night. Pinch-hitter Idelson Tavares then grounded out, which scored Coffel. The inning continued after Jon Hansen was hit by a pitch, followed by a Joe Pesce single and a Ricciardi walk. Chris Rinaldi brought home Hansen with a sac-fly and Dellicarri brought home Pesce and Ricciardi with a single to increase the lead to 17-7.
Worcester will hit the road early tomorrow for a 10:30 am start in Lynn to take on the Navigators in the second game of the home and home series.
