Wolves Top Steelheads, 3-1
September 22, 2019 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL) - Mississauga Steelheads News Release
Mississauga, ON - The Mississauga Steelheads took on the Sudbury Wolves for an afternoon game on Sunday.
Sudbury opened the scoring in the first, as Blake Murray found Shane Bulitka in front of the net who tapped one home. The Steelheads would control the play for the rest of the period, outshooting Sudbury 14-4. Aidan Prueter tied the game up on the powerplay, on a no-look pass from Cole Schwindt behind the net, just before the period ended. Ole-Bjørgvik Holm picked up a secondary assist on the play for his first career OHL point.
The Wolves capitalized on a 5-on-3 powerplay midway through the second to break the deadlock at one.
That would be the only goal of the period, as both teams traded numerous opportunities on the powerplay. At the end of two, Mississauga was outshooting Sudbury 21 to 12.
The Steelheads battled hard to start the third, with Cole Schwindt just missing the net on a great scoring chance in front. Sudbury would answer back, as Murray found Byfield on a cross-crease pass for his third point of the game. The Steelheads would ultimately fall to the Wolves by a final score of 3-1.
Following the game, St. Louis Blues draft pick Keean Washkurak had the following to say "I thought the third period was pretty good for us, towards the end we were getting some more shots on net, but pucks just weren't going in."
