Brampton Steelheads News Release
Mississauga, ON - The Mississauga Steelheads returned to the Paramount Fine Foods Centre to take on the Sudbury Wolves on Sunday afternoon.
James Hardie opened the scoring on the powerplay as he picked up a rebound in front of the net to put the Steelheads ahead by one. A few minutes later, it was Hardie again who found Schwindt in front of the net and made no mistake in roofing it past Mitchell Weeks to make it 2-0. Sudbury answered back, as Cory Stillman fired a cross crease pass to Jack Thompson to cut the Steelheads lead to one. The Wolves would get one more from Isaak Phillips to even the score before the teams headed to the dressing room.
The intensity continued to mount, as both teams spent time in the penalty box to open the second period. Richard Whittaker nearly broke the tie, as he skated in past Sudbury's defence and ripped a hard shot that could not beat the crossbar. The Steelheads had some great scoring chances before the end of the period, but would head into the intermission in a 2-2 deadlock.
Sudbury broke the tie quickly to start the third, as it was David Levin all alone who beat goaltender Kai Edmonds upstairs. Quinton Byfield fired a slapshot from the faceoff circle on the powerplay to increase the Wolves lead to two goals. The Steelheads would battle hard for the rest of the game, but ultimately fall to the Wolves by a score of 4-2. Forward James Hardie extended his goalscoring streak to 4 games, while goaltender Kai Edmonds made 38 saves in the loss.
