KANSAS CITY, MO (Thursday, April 10, 2003) - Kansas City Wizards General Manager Curt Johnson announced today that Wizards season ticket sales have surpassed the 6,000 mark for the first time in franchise history. This represents a 62% increase over last year's final total of 3,724. On Wednesday, two significant orders took the drive past the 6,000 mark. Kansas City Chiefs Head Coach Dick Vermeil purchased a Wizards "Kick's for Kid's" Package and, coupled with a Medallion ticket commitment from Henderson Engineers Inc. of Lenexa, KS, the Wizards have zoomed to a current total of 6,028. This tally places the Wizards 3rd of 10 MLS teams in Full Season Equivalent sales for the 2003 season.

These two landmark orders bring the total to 185 area individuals and organizations who have now purchased significant season ticket packages during the past four months. The Wizards continue daily to set franchise records after topping the old mark of 4,115 two months ago. The organization previously passed the 3,000 mark on January 22nd, 4,000 on February 13th and 5,000 on March 5th.

"The Wizards have a creative marketing plan and I think that some results of that should come from home -- from within the Chiefs organization," said Vermeil. "I purchased the 400-plus, individual game "Kicks for Kid's" ticket package because young people are playing soccer like never before. I thought it was important to support our family organization and the continued growth of youth sports in our area. I am delighted that underprivileged children will benefit from the opportunity to come to Arrowhead."

The Wizards open the 2003 season on Saturday, April 12 at 7:00 p.m. CT when they host D.C. United at Arrowhead Stadium. Fans are encouraged to come to the stadium early as a large opening day crowd is expected. Parking gates open at 4:00 p.m. and the ever-popular "Soccer Celebration" will take place in Lot C from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
